A Cupboard Full of Coats
Since A Cupboard Full of Coats by Yvvette Edwards scooped a longlist Manbooker nomination...

...the reviews for her beautiful novel have come flooding in.

The Bay in Swansea said: 'This is an electric novel, which tells an electrifying story with speed and energy that is quite remarkable.'

Farm Lane Books blog dated 31st August and, reviewed by Jackie, said: 'I'm pleased to announce that this year's Booker long list has finally rewarded me with a wonderful book...I was gripped by this book from the very first page. I flew through it, desperate to know ... I found the characters well formed and realistic, and the descriptions of life as a Caribbean in East London were evocative and atmospheric.'

Publishing Perspectives reviewed by Gwendolyn Dawson said: 'A Cupboard Full of Coats, is an elegantly structured story of guilt and redemption...Jinx's first-person narration is emotionally raw and brutally honest...A Cupboard Full of Coats is a masterfully structured novel, building suspense even though the ending is revealed on the first page. Impressive in its psychological complexity, this is one of the best novels I've read this year.'

Goodreads said: 'Redolent of Monica Ali and Zadie Smith, Yvvette Edwards' bold debut is a searing story of family, jealousy, and tragic betrayal...Rich with voices from East London and the West Indies, Edward's narrative is delivered with a unique and uncompromising bite that announces a new talent in British fiction.'

Congratulations Yvvette, it seems everybody loves it as much as we do.
