The Story of Matthew Buzzington

The Story of Matthew Buzzington by Andy Stanton has been shortlisted for the  Leicestershire Children's Book Prize 2010. The main aim of the prize is to promote great writing by real authors for younger readers. This book is actually...

aimed at older readers but a number of 8 year old boys read it and said that it was the best thing they had ever read, so Leicester Book Prize were happy to add it to the shortlist and bring it to the attention of a wider audience.  The award will be launched during National Children’s Book Week in October when young readers will be invited to vote for their favourite book from a shortlist of 10 titles.  The titles will then be promoted in schools and libraries during October, November and December The list was compiled by staff from Library Services for Education  and public libraries and was informed by suggestions from children gathered as part of the Summer Reading Challenge.

The full list can be seen on their website
