 The shortlist is created by putting the bestselling titles through independent bookshops between June 2007 and June 2008 (using Nielsen BookScan data) to a vote by all Bookseller Association independent bookseller members. This vote has resulted in two shortlists, one adult and one children’s. The two shortlists will now be put to a vote by bookshop customers. The shortlisted titles will be illustrated on A3 posters which will go out to all 339 independent booksellers who participated in this year’s inaugural Independent Booksellers Week, and the voting will be orchestrated by booksellers handing out to their customers A6 Voting Postcards, which will list all the shortlisted titles. This is a great award because it’s based on book sales and public vote and so being shortlisted is quite an achievement! Last years winner was Michael Morpurgo with Alone on a Wide Wide Sea |
