Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear

Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear by Andy Stanton has won the Portsmouth Book Award for the shorter novel category.

Other shortlisted books were:

  • David Almond: “My dad's a birdman”
  • Anne Fine: “Ivan the terrible”
  • Hilda Offen: “The galloping ghost”
  • Michael Morpurgo: “The Mozart question”

Andy was presented with the award at a ceremony attended by 1200 very excited fans in Portsmouth today (July 1st).
