- Submissions
SubmissionsDo you like fantasy and science fiction books? Not for adults, no. Will you accept a children's book submission by email? We now accept all submissions by email. To whom do I address my covering letter? To Eve. In your submission guidelines, you ask for a 'biography'. What is this?
It's a couple of sentences about yourself and can be part of you covering letter. We don't need a c.v.
What will happen if I post a hard copy of my submission to your office? If there's a stamped envelope, we will send it straight back. Otherwise it will be recycled. Why does a manuscript have to be double-line spaced? It gives an editor space to make notes and it is much easier to read.
Is your address the one on this site or the one in Writers and Artists' Yearbook 2006? The one on this site!
Can you let me know whether my submission arrived? You will receive an automatic reply which will tell you that your submission has been received. I haven't had a reply. Why? We do reply to everyone who writes to us. Your first reply will be an automatic acknowledgement of receipt. If you didn't get this then we didn't receive your submission. We have very frequent reading sessions but sometimes we get a back log, in which case it could take a couple of months for you to get a reply. Please do not contact us unless at least two months has past since you wrote to us. If you do need to enquire, we will need the exact date of your submission, which address it was emailed to and what was in your subject heading. Thank you. Do I need to call before submitting a manuscript? No. Please see our submissions guidelines for instructions.
