Mighty Max

by Rachael Mortimer Illustrated by Ross Collins

Little Max becomes a hero.

Max lives with his mother, father and three fearless brothers, Struan the Strong, Fergus the Fierce and Bruce the Bold. Whilst his brothers spend all their time arm wrestling, throwing logs and lifting heavy boulders Max prefers to read. His brothers tease him for being different to them. But when the time comes to face a real Monster, it is Mighty Max who saves the village using an idea he has read about in a very special book.

from MIGHTY MAX

The Mighty Monster had not been seen in years! He tipped over tables and tore down tents. The frightened villagers looked to the brave competitors but none of them moved! Fergus wasn’t feeling at all fierce. Bruce wasn’t feeling so bold. And Struan wasn’t feeling very strong. “Help! Help! Help!” they cried. Max was astonished to see his brothers quivering and quaking. He knew exactly what to do. He calmly took a small stone out of his pocket, stared at the beast's cold eyes, then threw the stone. In one hit, it knocked the Monster out cold!
