Chris Buckton

Chris Buckton has always made up stories but has only recently had the opportunity to write full-time. Born in Cambridge, where she went to university, she started her working life at the BBC. After bringing up her family, she worked in education as a primary head teacher, as an adviser and as a person-centred counsellor. She has written extensively for educational publishers, OUP, CUP, Harcourt and Badger Publishing. She lives near Cambridge and has a husband, three sons, four grandchildren and a lurcher.

She was awarded the MBE in 1999 for services to Family Literacy.

Her story, Save Our School, is published in WOW! 366 (Scholastic 2008). Her first full-length children's novel, Out in the Cold, is set in Victorian Norfolk, and was inspired by the wistful faces in workhouse photographs.
