Rae Earl was born in Stamford, Lincolnshire in 1971. She worked in radio for 15 years but has been writing 'stuff' for most of her life. Her first book 'Next door's Persian cat has been run over- an experimental poem' (unpublished, 1986) was described as 'absolute tripe' by her mother. Her second book 'My Fat, Mad Teenage Diary' (Hodder, 2007) was described as 'Funnier, ruder and sadder than Adrian Mole' by the Financial Times and as 'Really quite good' by her mother. Her third book 'Hattie Moore's This Is Not A Blog!' will be published by Walker books in 2013. Her mum hasn't read it yet.
Rae currently lives in Tasmania, Australia with her husband and son. She thought she was going to go all 'River Cottage' and self sufficient. Unfortunately carrots take work and there's a magnificent chippy just around the corner.
