Rae Earl (News)

Rae Earl was born in Stamford in Lincolnshire in 1971. She worked in radio for 15 years and once managed to get on Westlife’s private jet for an entire weekend. After nicking Brian McFadden’s Mars bar, Rae knew she had peaked professionally and turned back to her first love – writing.

Rae’s book ‘My Fat, Mad Teenage Diary’ (Hodder, 2007), described as ‘Funnier, sadder & ruder than Adrian Mole’ by the Financial Times, will be made into a six-part drama serial for Channel4 TV and broadcast on e4 in winter 2012. Her ‘Hattie Moore’ series for teens will be published by Walker in 2013. Her first project ‘Next door’s Persian cat has been run over – an experimental poem’ remains unpublished and under the mattress at her mum’s house.

Rae currently lives in Hobart, Tasmania with her husband and son. She thought she was going to go all ‘River Cottage’ and self sufficient. Unfortunately, carrots take work and there’s a magnificent chippy just around the corner…
