Mary de SousaABOUT MARY DE SOUSA Mary de Sousa is a half-Indian half-Irish ex-journalist who got tired of being shouted at to write other people's stories and decided to try one of her own. This coincided handily with a move from Madrid to Islamabad where an excess of time and peace led to her first novel, The Halfie-Halfie Girl, which happened while she should have been writing something else altogether.
SAMPLE FROM THE HALFIE-HALFIE GIRL Zen was silent as her brain whirred. The plump young woman eating sweets by the fire and the old lady in the photo were the same person, her grandmother. That meant the angry man was her grandfather, the smirking boy with the comic must be Uncle Lawrence and standing before her with his hair slicked back and his fierce brown eyes was… She knew it but she couldn't quite believe it.
